First Baptist Church offers several areas for individuals who enjoy working in crafts as a hobby or as a ministry.

Scrapbooking
We open our Family Life Center to both beginning and advanced scrapbooking activities for women on selected Saturdays. Occasionally we offer scrapbooking activities for children, as well.

Sewing Circle
Our Sewing Circle meets every 2nd & 4th Monday of the month from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM in the Family Life Center. Hours are flexible and ladies come and go as their schedules allow. They work on individual projects, as well as projects for various programs: such as blankets and comforters for AIDS babies and Crisis Pregnancy centers. All kinds of handiwork are encouraged: knitting, crochet, quilting, needlepoint, sewing, etc. Participants are expected to bring their own supplies. However, a sewing machine and ironing board are available for general use. The Sewing Circle is open to all ladies of the church and community.

Ceramics
We offer classes in Ceramics twice a week in our Annex Building on the corner of 13th Street and 4th Ave. on Monday evenings from 6:30 – 9:00 and on Thursday afternoons from 1:00 – 4:00. Classes are open to all ages – no experience is required. Trained teachers are available to give instruction as needed. Hours are flexible. Participants furnish brushes and ceramic pieces (some greenware and bisque pieces are available to purchase at the class). Cost is $10 for three months, and covers all firing and paint.
Contact the church office for instructor contact information.

Hands to Hearts Handcrafters
Hands to Hearts Handcrafters knit and crochet comfort shawls with prayer interwoven among the stitches, by praying as they work. These comfort shawls may be given to men and women who are grieving, facing a serious illness, or dealing with an unexpected emotional crisis. Beginners/learners are welcome, as are delivery drivers!

Flower Ministry
During times of illness or crisis, our flower ministry extends a personal touch to those in need. Volunteers rearrange the beautiful floral arrangements used for Sunday services into smaller, beautiful bouquets or arrangements and personally deliver them to members facing a variety of situations that week. Whether hospitalized, undergoing rehabilitation, or at home with an illness, each delivery is carefully thought out and presented with a prayer and a smile. If you have talent in arranging flowers or wish to learn how to help in this way, contact the church office for instructions on how you can participate.

Floral arrangements used during church services are provided by a local florist. Donations are accepted in memory of a loved one and noted in the weekly bulletin. If you wish to make a donation in memory of someone, contact us at 941-746-2149 or e-mail info@fbcbradenton.org for details.
