At First Baptist we believe that prayer is essential for the success of every ministry, program and individual at our church.

We encourage our membership to spend time in daily prayer and Bible study, as well as offering organized time for corporate prayer. In addition to being part of various small prayer groups, our membership is urged to join our Watchman Prayer Ministry by committing to spend an hour a week on their knees as prayer warriors. This ministry is open to anyone who feels called to Intercession.

"My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations."
(Isaiah 56:7)

What is the Watchman Prayer Ministry?
·   The Watchman Prayer Ministry is a lay ministry of First Baptist Church.   We currently have four "Walls" - North, South, East and West.  The prayer warriors pray a hedge of protection around our fellowship.  Watchmen also turn their prayers inside our church walls to intercede on behalf of our ministries.

 ·   There are four Wall Captains; one for each Wall.

 ·   A Watchman is a prayer warrior answering God's call to commit to pray for our Jerusalem, First Baptist Church.  You will pray for a designated hour each week and then call the Watchman who prays after you (or during some hours, the Watchman who prays at the same time as you) to pass along the watch so there will not be any gaps in the wall.

 ·   The Watchman Prayer Alert is published monthly with prayer helps and prayer requests of the ministers, ministries and missionaries of our church.  The Watchman Alert and our Weekly Prayer Update are available at the Watchman Wall in the lobby each Sunday.

 Who can be a Watchman?
·   Teenagers, college students, couples, families, singles, homebound, anyone.

What do we pray about?
·
Pray for specific prayer needs requested by the ministers, ministry leaders, staff and missionaries.

When do we pray?
·
Choose one designated hour each week.  Call the church office for available hours.

How do I pray for an hour?
·
The Watchman Prayer Alert is published monthly with the many prayer requests from all the ministers and ministry leaders of the church.   Your question will soon turn into one of:  "How can I pray for all these requests in one hour?"

Where do I pray?
·   Anywhere...home, office, church, outdoors, while on vacation.

Why do I call the prayer warrior following me?
·
The call you make after your hour expresses not only your love for and support of the watchman who follows you, but also provides the accountability that holds him answerable for his hour of commitment.

How do I sign up?
·
Fill out a Watchman Prayer Ministry Covenant card to sign up as a new prayer warrior or to make changes for active prayer warriors.  Please feel free to contact the church office at 941-746-2149 or e-mail info@fbcbradenton.org for more information and to choose your time slot.
